Last Friday, April 21st, 2023 marked the first ever Arweave fundamentals event held at the Apex Center for Entrepreneurs at Virginia Tech. The event was hosted by Community Labs and AFTR Market in collaboration with the Virginia Tech Blockchain Club. The students in attendance learned new skills in frontend and backend development to earn Arweave Fundamentals Certificates.
The event featured founders in the Arweave ecosystem, Joe Berenbaum and Tate Berenbaum, who shared their journey and insights on starting and running a web3 company.
Students across different majors spent the evening learning the technical fundamentals of Arweave and the permaweb, which serves as a bridge between web2 and web3. They then put their new knowledge to the test as they collaborated to build a decentralized social media platform completely on Arweave.
This is the first of many events to be hosted by Community Labs and AFTR Market in the year ahead as both companies aim to establish a more permanent presence in the Virginia Tech community.
Community Labs is a software startup and venture studio dedicated to supporting projects on Arweave, a decentralized ecosystem that enables permanent data storage. Just last year, Community Labs raised $30 Million and intends to utilize a portion of its funds to further blockchain education and promote student work within the Arweave ecosystem.
